About the role
This is a software engineering role on healthcare products that use existing AI models. You will write Python and SQL services, data pipelines and rule logic, and add AI features that read clinical notes and pull out the facts teams need. You will use AI models through their APIs, not train them.
What you will do
- Write and maintain Python services, APIs and data pipelines that process healthcare records.
- Turn documentation, regulatory and payment rules into code, with tests that prove each rule works.
- Build features that send clinical notes to AI models, such as those from Anthropic and OpenAI, through their APIs and turn the replies into structured results.
- Use semantic search to find the right notes before a model reads them, and link every result to the text it came from.
- Write prompts and evaluation sets that measure accuracy, and handle timeouts, retries and usage costs.
- Follow privacy and security rules for patient data in everything you build.
What we look for
- A degree in computer science, IT or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Strong Python fundamentals and working SQL.
- At least one project that calls an AI model's API, and the ability to explain how you checked its output.
- REST APIs and JSON, Git, and the habit of writing unit tests.
- Care with detail: you read a rule closely and turn it into code exactly.
- Clear written English.
Good to have
- PostgreSQL, embeddings or vector search.
- Some Java or TypeScript (React or Vue).
- AWS, Docker or Kubernetes.
- An interest in healthcare.
